GOLD COAST (Australia) - The Tahiti men’s team went through the 2018 FIBA Polynesian Cup undefeated to win gold over Samoa by four points in the final.

Tonga wrapped up the podium positions with a narrow two-point victory over American Samoa to win the bronze medal.

Tahiti’s Ariirimarau Meuel and Rehiti Sommers led the all-star five selection with Theo McFarland and Sapeti Tufga from Samoa also named alongside Tongan, Marcus Alipate.

Hosted by Samoa in 2018, the 2022 edition of the Polynesian Cup will be hosted by the Cook Islands in Kaitaia, New Zealand, with the Tahitian men no doubt eager to replicate their 2019 success and book their place at the 2023 Pacific Games.
